The MPA( Marine Protected Area ) Milos project
The Marine Sciences Laboratory belongs to the Dept. of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus, and is involved in research concerning the environmental impacts of shipping and coastal industries on the marine environment. It has developed many management and organizational tools in order to support sustainable marine industries and is involved in developing and managing Marine Protected Areas in Greece.
The Marine Sciences Laboratory has been involved, since 1990, in studying the marine area of the islands of Milos, Kimolos and Polyaigos in order to establish a Marine Protected Area (MPA). An extended data base of sound scientific evidence has been created over the years establishing the special underwater environmental characteristics and the indigenous species in need of protection. Through extensive public awareness projects the Laboratory has gained the favourable support of numerous local institutions (Local Government, NGO's, Fishermen Associations) based on the island of Milos. info@mpamilos.gr

Excursion Géologique : par petits groupes, nous visitons les mines, certaines en activité, d’autres en exploitation suspendue. (VISITES GUIDEES).
Excursion botanique : par groupe, nous escaladons les petites collines de Milos, Kimolos ou bien Polyaigos, et notre guide vous apprend a reconnaître les plantes renommées, et toute la flore de nos montagnes et prairies.
Excursions pédestres : plusieurs parcours de difficulté variable et de durée, sont proposes, dans Milos et aux îles a l’entour.
Séminaires journaliers culinaires : notre chef vous apprend des spécialités régionales, vous les préparez sur place et toute l’équipe les dégustes pour apprécier les résultats.
Excursions archéologiques : visite des nos musées et de nos sites vieux de plusieurs centaines de siècles. SUR TERRE ET SOUS L’EAU en palmes, masque, et tuba.
